The Social Sector and Digital Inclusion working group has begun their brainstorming process. The following represents the outcome of that process to date.
Distribution (Connectivity). Questions to Consider:
1. How do we identify who currently who does/doesn’t have Internet?
2. What might be done to close the inclusivity gap?
3. What are the core inclusivity gap themes?
a. Local infrastructure
b. Community Awareness
c. Hardware Needs
d. Education/Why and How to Use
Usage. Questions to Consider:
1. What are all of the ways the community might use and take advantage of this new technology?
2. While community members “pull” content, might we consider “push” strategies?
3. How might our community members use this technology to benefit the community (texting in problems or ideas, opinion surveys, etc…)
Education/Content. Questions to Consider:
1. How might we educate the community about resource value?
2. How might we educate the community about how to make best use for:
a. Community/civic engagement & development
b. Business engagement & development
c. Personal engagement & development
3. In what ways can we provide education and training directly to our community?
4. What types of education/content do we support?
Devices. Questions to Consider:
1. How can we maximize usage with consideration to the devices that will be used (home computer vs. smart-phone or tablet)?
2. Might additional infrastructure such as “hot spots” throughout Provo be an option?
3. How do we envision “how” our community will interface with the Internet from a hardware perspective?
Tools & Apps. Questions to Consider:
1. What kinds of tools and applications would help our community make the most of this technology?
Overarching Considerations. Questions to Consider:
1. How will all of the themes above help build community relationships?
2. How do we demonstrate value through each theme?
3. What will be our change management strategy for all themes?
