The Family and Community Working Group has had their first meeting and brainstormed a number of key opportunities for Provo given our status as one of the most connected cities in America. Here are the ideas generated in that brainstorming session.
Family Stability • City wide wi-fi/save data money • Virtual grocery store • Gather oral histories/ family history • Engage blogging community Supplement income • Better access to English as a second language classes/learning Citizen engagement • Civic/ community engagement Bridging Community Divides • Faith-based divides • Language barriers • Cultural differences • Connecting Immigrant population o Community portal resources o English as a second language Civic innovation • Interconnecting groups via tech/hangouts • PTA, neighborhoods (chairs) • Community portals • Carpooling /trip reduction • Community apps • Everything must be 2-way or more • Community competitions • Connecting interest groups/hobbies • Especially natural resources Sustainability • Air quality – Community competition • City utility devices/applications o Fuel consumption decreases Internet Safety • Filtering at Google server level /”buy-up” /opt. out • Education options • Violation tracking • Tracking family members (opt. in) Others: • Housing density • Growth
